About Julio:

Julio Elvin Quiñones (b. 1996) is a Puerto Rican composer known for his compelling, expressive and socially aware music, imbued with visceral gestures, intuition and that represents every aspect of his identity.

Most recently he has been selected as the 2023-2024 Composer-In-Residence of the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts’ Puerto Abierto Residency with the Victory Players. Additionally his work has been performed by ensembles such as Tacet(i), Talea Ensemble, JACK Quartet, among others.

Julio graduated from the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico (B.M.), the Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute (M.M.) and is currently a Provost’s Enhancement and Graduate Center Fellow at The Graduate Center CUNY (PhD.).
